On November 20 at 10AM, Detectives Joe Sloan and Joe Nigro arrested a 39 year old Newark male, in the City of Newark, and closed a two-month investigation into a rash of work van burglaries and thefts. Under the command of Detective/Sergeant Charlie Schimpf, Detective Joe Sloan conducted interviews, collected evidence, videos and developed enough criminal information to establish a suspect. Sergeants Corey Karas, John Brown, Officers Marc Silva and Matt Murphy, all members of the Crime Suppression Unit, worked closely with the Detective Bureau under the direction of Detective Sloan for several weeks; conducting long hours of surveillance, following suspect vehicles and identifying criminal targets. This investigation and subsequent arrest successfully closed more than a dozen work van burglaries.
