On March 23 at 6:30PM, Officer Matt Murphy and Sergeants Mike Halpin and John Brown responded to a Cross Street address on an alleged stabbing. The injured party reported he was walking down the street when confronted by a male who stabbed him without provocation. He described the offender and police began a search with no results. The 18 year old Lyndhurst male was transported to the hospital. A crime scene was established and detectives were contacted. Approximately two hours later, a 19 year old Harrison male entered headquarters to report that he had been the victim of a robbery and defended himself by stabbing his offender. Over the course of the next several days, Detective Joe Sloan investigated the claims, gathered evidence, recovered video and interviewed numerous persons establishing that in fact three males conspired to rob a fourth person known to them from previous contacts. They lured him to a specific location to be robbed. On Thursday, March 28, Det/Sgt. Charlie Schimpf and Detectives Joe Sloan and Robert Crudele located and arrested three local males between 18 and 20 years old. They were charged with Robbery and Conspiracy and transported to the Hudson County Jail.
