On 02/10/2023, at approximately midnight, a HPD officer observed an erratic driver in the at the intersection of Sussex Street. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined that the driver had been drinking. The driver could not satisfactorily complete the standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver was issued multiple summonses and was released under John’s Law to a friend.
On 02/12/2023, at 0300 hours, HPD officers observed a vehicle with front end damage at the intersection of 5th Street and Hamilton Street. As the officer was observing this vehicle it began to disregard red lights ion the area. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at Cleveland Avenue and North 5th Street. After speaking with the driver it was determined that he had been drinking. The driver was asked to complete field sobriety tests, which he could not successfully complete. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver was released after receiving numerous summonses, which included driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to chemical testing to a family member under John’s Law. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 02/13/2023, at 0405 hours, an officer observed a vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of Bergen Street and Rt. 280 Ramp. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and contact with the driver was made. After speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been drinking. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he could not satisfactorily complete the standard field sobriety tests. The driver was released under John’s Law to a family member after receiving multiple summonses which included , DWI, failure to submit to chemical testing, CDS in a motor vehicle as well having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
On 02/15/2023, at 0022 hours, an officer observed a motor vehicle being operated with no headlights in the area of Harrison Avenue and 7th Street. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and contact with the driver was made. After speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been drinking. The driver could not satisfactorily complete the field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver received numerous motor vehicle summonses which included , DWI and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. The drivers’ blood alcohol content (BAC) was nearly double the legal limit. The driver was released under John’s Law. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 02/16/2023, at 0155 hours, an officer observed a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Harrison Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver. While speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been drinking. After failing to satisfactorily complete the standard field sobriety tests the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver received multiple motor vehicle summonses which included DWI and reckless driving. The drivers blood alcohol content was nearly double the legal limit and the vehicle was impounded.
On 02/17/2023, at 0109 hours, HPD units were alerted about a driver operating a motor vehicle erratically. The vehicle was observed swerving around multiple vehicles while coming over the Jackson Street Bridge. It is also reported that this driver had struck a vehicle in the City of Newark. A motor vehicle stop was conducted in a safe location on the 500 block of S Frank E Rodgers Blvd. After making contact with the driver, it was determined that the driver had been drinking. The driver could not satisfactorily complete the standard field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for DWI. The driver received numerous motor vehicle summonses after his blood alcohol content (BAC) was nearly double the legal limit. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 02/17/2023, at 0237 hours, an officer observed a vehicle commit a motor vehicle violation in the area of Cape May Street and Frank E Rodgers Blvd. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver. After speaking with the driver , it was determined that he had been drinking. The driver could not satisfactorily complete the standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The driver received multiple motor vehicle summonses which included DWI and reckless driving. The drivers blood alcohol content (BAC) was nearly double the limit permissible to drive a car. The driver was released under John’s Law to a family member. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
