Message From the Mayor

Harrison, NJ., 175 years young. Incorporated in 1840, named after President William Henry Harrison, the Beehive of Industry - R.C.A., Crucible Steel, Hyatt Roller Bearing, Otis Elevator and 175 years later poised to re-invent itself again.
My name is James A. Fife, installed as the 7th Mayor of Harrison on February 27, 2014, after the untimely and tragic death of our beloved Mayor Raymond J. McDonough. I was then elected for a 4 year term on November 4, 2014.

The re-invention of Harrison was the "Dream" of Ray McDonough and Peter B. Higgins III. They worked tirelessly to make the "Dream" a reality.

The Hampton Inn, River Park Condos, Red Bull Stadium, HCIA Parking Garage, Building One on Angelo Cifelli Drive, Water's Edge were the first projects to be completed. Myself, the Town Council, and the Harrison Redevelopment Agency, have tried to stay true to Ray's "Dream." The Element Hotel, Pegasus, Iron State building Number 3, the Cookie Factory and Russo Vermillian will be open in the Fall of 2015, with over 1,000 rental units. Other projects are in the works, A.C. Marriott Hotel, Lamp Works (Vo-Toys), Hornblas (McClave Lumber) and the new $250 million dollar PATH Station are under construction.

All Harrisonians should feel good about the positive direction of our town. Give a "special thanks" to Mayor Raymond J. McDonough and Peter B. Higgins III for all of their hard work and dedication.

175 years young.

Thank you,

James A. Fife, Mayor
